Max the Miracle Dog - The heart-warming tale of a life-saving friendship by Kerry Irving
In 2006, a traumatic car accident changed Kerry Irving's life forever.
Suffering from severe neck and back injuries and in constant pain, Kerry could no longer do the job he loved and became housebound. Struggling with depression and even suicidal thoughts he went from being extremely active -cycling 600 miles a month - to becoming a prisoner in his own home.
With hope all but lost, Kerry's wife encouraged him to take a short walk to the local shop. In unbearable pain and overwhelming panic, he faced this short journey and along the way meeting a beautiful Spaniel named Max. As Max peered up through the railings of his yard, Kerry instantly found comfort and encouragement in his eyes. This chance encounter now marked a turning point in both their lives.
This is true affirmation of the power of that bond between dog and human; and offers inspiration and hope. Thanks so much for sharing this Kerry and Max.

Kika & Me - How one extraordinary guide dog changed my world by Dr Amit Patel
In 2013 Dr Amit Pater was working as a trauma doctor when a rare condition caused him to lose his sight within thirty- six hours. Totally dependent on others and terrified of stepping outside with a white cane after a horrifying assault, he hit rock bottom.
Two years later Amit was found Kika – whose stubbornness almost put her guide dog training in jeopardy - but quirky personality was the perfect match for Amit!
Paired in 2015, they start on a journey, learning to trust each other before taking to the streets of London and beyond. The partnership not only gave Amit a renewed lease of life but a new best friend. After a video of an irate commuter rudely asking Amit to step aside on an escalator goes viral, he sets out with Kika by his side to spread a message of positivity and inclusivity, showing that nothing will hold them back.

Lucy’s Law by Marc Abraham
The true story of one little dog who helped bring an end to puppy farming in the UK.
Lucy, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, was born into a Welsh puppy farm in 2008 and repeatedly bred to produce litters of cute puppies which were sold online and distributed all over the country.
Kept in a cage for most of her life and unable to have pups anymore; she was rescued in 2013 by Lisa Garner who turned Lucy's life around when she was chosen for adoption and rehabilitation. Lisa had shared her life with many dogs beforehand, but she recognised something extra special about little Lucy, and so their unique journey together began which would eventually change the world...
Lucy had three years of love before she died in 2016 and Lucy’s Law came into effect on 6 April this year requiring that animals be born and reared in a safe environment, with their mother, and to be sold from their place of birth.
Once again an example of how powerful the relationship between human and dog can be! The power of one little dog and the passion of those around her. An extraordinary story that made us laugh and cry.

Janey the Vet – Saving Sri Lankas Street Dogs by Janey Lowes
In 2014 and in her mid-twenties, Janey Lowes had been a vet for just two years when she left her home in County Durham to travel. Visiting Sri Lanka, she was horrified to see the state of so many of the island's dogs, in particular the three million strays.
Janey decided there and then that she was going to move to the island indefinitely and do everything within her power to help them. Raising £10,000 to get started and setting up a charity called WECare Worldwide, she began work. Frightened, determined and excited all at the same time, she found local help and began scouring the streets for dogs in need. Patching up some as best she could at the roadside or treating in a make-shift surgery she had cobbled together in her new home. With very little equipment, she and her small team came up with new and ingenious ways to treat the animals.
What an amazing journey full of challenges and adventures. Janey is a brave, inspirational and beautiful character. During the highs and lows of this journey Janey’s positivity completely shines through. Wow – we salute you!
